Hello new Y7’s.
I bet you have lots of feelings whizzing around about starting with us in September; excitement, nerves, intrigue. You have met the Head Teacher Mr Guest, the Deputy Head Mr Grant, and me – Mrs Mower – your Head of Year.
Now you are on here you are also about to meet your Head of House and your Base tutor and that is really exciting! These members of Staff will support you for the next 5-7 years. They will help you to find your feet when you first start and once you are settled, they will inspire you to work hard and fully engage in the life of our school – dreaming big and achieving so many wonderful things.
All that is left now is to find your way around our school and meet some of your teachers and all your new friends and this will happen on that first day in September. By the time home-time arrives on that first day you will be buzzing with happiness and any butterflies you might have (and those your parents have) will disappear.
Enjoy reading about what House you are in and enjoy finding out some interesting things about your Base tutor. Remember those two faces – it will be your Head of House and your Base tutor that will greet you on that first day (and me of course) and before you know it you will be in Y11, remembering how little you were on that first day but also how brave you were, how smart you looked and how resilient you’ve been, having spent the last few months learning from home in the most unusual of times.
What memories you are making for you to share with old friends and new friends. I haven’t even met you properly yet but know I am already so very proud of you!
Now all that is left to do is to wish you and your families the safest and happiest of summer holidays. Get some rest and some exercise and everyone here at SWRA looks forward to meeting you properly in September.
Take care,
Mrs Mower
