  • Welcome to the Sixth Form

Sir William Robertson Academy Sixth Form is proud to be an ambitious, academic Sixth Form committed to the success of its students. We are based in a beautiful, rural setting with excellent facilities to support our students to ASPIRE.

The Sixth Form opened in 2012 and has continued to grow into a core part of our school. Our curriculum offer is broad and ambitious, and we are proud to offer a wide range of courses to suit our students’ needs and passions. Our students achieve excellent results, and we are proud to have seen our students move on to fantastic destinations. Universities our students have gone on to include Oxford, Cambridge, King’s College London, Birmingham, Sheffield, York and Lincoln. Students undertaking apprenticeships have begun placements with institutions such as Network Rail, the Armed Forces and local education establishments (including SWRA itself!). We achieve excellent results through careful, personalised curriculum planning, committed teaching, rigorous assessment and tracking of student progress. Our students receive regular guidance from our pastoral and tutor teams to support them on their journey.

We aim to treat each student as an individual and cater for their specific needs. We have the highest expectations of all of our students and demonstrate this through an unwavering commitment to our Contract for Enrolment. We believe that by consistently applying these expectations – from high attendance to a professional business dress code – we can develop excellent habits in our young people. We proudly prepare our students for the demands of life after Sixth Form. We ensure that our students have unique opportunities to have experiences beyond their studies through our Enrichment programme, which ensures our students develop into well-rounded individuals. Year 12 students undertake at least one week of relevant work experience alongside planned sessions about work readiness, CV building and interview preparation. We have various guest speakers to challenge our students’ thinking and students participate in a variety of activities, including sports and volunteering.

If you are a current Year 11 student at SWRA and are interested in joining us, look out for information about applications from your base tutor throughout the year. If you are currently studying elsewhere and would like some more information, please contact 01400 272422 to organise a tour of the school. I look forward to hearing from you about joining our Sixth Form!
