Dear Parent/Carer,
Thank you for supporting the national guidance issued on Sunday that pupils in Year 7 and above should wear face coverings during their journeys to and from school and in all communal areas whilst in school. We expect this measure to be in place up to the Christmas holiday.
We have reviewed COVID levels in school and we do not feel that face coverings should be required to be worn by pupils in classrooms at the present time. However, we shall keep this situation under daily review. Pupils are, of course, welcome to wear face coverings in class should they choose to do so – many are doing this already.
A number of pupils are currently visiting the School Office on a daily (or more frequent) basis to request new face coverings. I should be grateful if parents/carers could ensure that their child attends school with their own face covering (particularly as this is needed for the journey) but we do retain a supply in school for emergency use if a mask breaks or is lost during the day.
We should be grateful if pupils could continue to administer twice-weekly COVID tests at home (additional LFD test packs can be collected by pupils outside of lesson time from the School Office when needed). If your child has any COVID symptoms (a high temperature; a new, continuous cough or a loss or change to their sense of smell or taste) they should not attend school and parents are advised to book a PCR COVID test.
Thank you for your continuing support.
