The science curriculum aims to give every child the opportunity to learn securely the scientific knowledge needed to explain and predict the outcome of events in the world they experience. By embedding scientific knowledge and vocabulary into their long-term memory, students will be able to confidently read science literature, whether in popular culture or academic, to understand evidence from the surrounding environment. They will therefore become experts in the subject, giving evidence-based opinions on the important discussions affecting the world, and will want to make a positive impact through science on their surroundings and beyond, by accessing further science education and careers.
The department will engage students with a knowledge-based curriculum that gives many opportunities to apply their knowledge and investigate through practicals the different phenomena in science. This will provide excitement in the subject whilst developing an inquisitive nature in the students.
