At SWRA, our Mathematics lessons ASPIRE to provide enjoyment and challenge. We wish for our learners to gain an accurate knowledge and deeper understanding of the subject, as well enhancing their ability to solve problems and provide tools to help them progress in the real world.
Our scheme of learning is inclusive to all abilities and connects strategically to build upon prior knowledge and stretch the learning of the pupils. Our assessment strategy ensures that both staff and pupils are fully aware of an individual’s strengths and areas for development. The department constantly reflects on the effectiveness of our curriculum, which enables our learners to benefit from a first-class education. It is our hope that the learners will achieve qualifications that represent their potential and beyond, ensuring that they are well-equipped for the next stage of their lives.
Learners at SWRA study the EDEXCEL specification across the Higher and Foundation tiers, depending on which suits their ability best. Many of our students progress to study Maths and Further Maths in our growing Sixth Form, with several achieving excellent grades in the process and moving on to University.
